@ Heero:
It's basically about the "Roaring 20's." Talking about the economy after the WWI, the materialistic nature of people of the era, and about prohibition. At least, I think that's what it is about.
@ Furubs:
No clue, there might be though, lol.

Re: Random Anime Questions!
Well, yes and no. I'm not very good at explaining things.
Another question! In Death Note, after Rem writes L's and Watari's names in her death note, do you think that Light got to find out L's true name, or do you think he lost interest?

I just don't think he wanted to know anymore. It's probably some sort of honor thing.
Though his real name is hilarious!

Re: Random Anime Questions!
I like his name. It suits him in more ways than one.
But I don't really consider it as Light wanting to honor L. I mean, in my opinion, Lights way of thinking about people is borderline scummy, but when you have someone that can/will interfere with his grand scheme of becoming the "God of the New World", he becomes downright brutal.

Re: Random Anime Questions!
Yeah, but he always recognized L as his biggest threat (until Near crushed him, that is). So it wouldn't surprise me if that was his way of his honoring his rival.

Re: Random Anime Questions!
You're right in saying that Light thought of L to be his biggest threat. They were even something similar to rivals. But Light's mind works somewhat differently than a normal person. Some examples of this would be how much thought he had put into all of his schemes, how he managed to avoid L's and some of Near's traps, and how he was able to escape suspicion from certain people such as the Task Force members (except for maybe Aizawa, but that was near the end). If anything, one could say that his reasoning skills and thoughts about how the people of the world were supposed to act were what warped his mind and caused him to want to kill/get rid of someone like L, who lived his life making sure people like Light were dealt with properly. I don't believe that he would ever have honored someone who was a threat.
And as for Near, Light basically only thought of him as a nuisance. Throughout the Near/Mello arc all Light wanted to do is prove that since he defeated L, defeating Near would be a simple task. Light's confidence got the better of him and in the end Near put Light in his place (or deflated his ego).
Of course, these are only my opinions.

Re: Random Anime Questions!
I would say that it's rising in popularity. The other day, I was sitting in the school library looking at the magazine shelves when I found a blurb on a cover that caught my eye. It said something like Manga: The New Teen Craze! or something. I could look it up for you though.

Re: Random Anime Questions!
It's definitely still on a raise. The popularity of anime and manga is following the same trend as video games (i.e. breaking out of its "nerd" paradigm). I see more and more people checking out the manga sections at book stores like Barnes and Noble.

Re: Random Anime Questions!
The way I see it is that the hemchmen are there to make the good guy look strong. If they were stronger than the good guy then you wouldn't have a story. . . .Or somethin'. . . .

Re: Random Anime Questions!
They are either an even stalemate like Bleach or DBZ, or completely one sided like Gundam Wing, or Samurai Champloo.
